How does AdvisorFit help me screen financial advisors?

After watching one too many episodes of the TV show American Greed, where unsuspecting people got bilked out of their life savings by unscrupulous financial advisors and other “professionals,” I knew I had to do something to protect people from those who prey on the less financially sophisticated.

This was the birth of AdvisorFit, a free online question and analysis tool that helps people evaluate financial advisors so they can find the best fit for their needs. How do we do this?

1. We ask the tough questions. We have created what we believe to be the most comprehensive and thorough financial advisor questionnaire around. Basically, we ask all the questions – even the tough ones. What we found is that most people evaluating a financial advisor don’t know the right questions to ask – or at least all of the right questions to ask. Our questionnaire takes the guesswork out of knowing which questions to ask.
2. We help you analyze the answers. Asking the right questions won’t help you find the right financial advisor if you aren’t sure how to interpret the answers. The financial field is filled with so much jargon and wishy-washy language that it is difficult for even the experts to understand. Through an automated analysis, we will help investors identify red flags and help them understand the financial advisor’s answers so they can make an informed decision.
